Who benefits from funds raised from ROARing Hearts?
Funds raised support Lakeside School programs and events that benefit every student, faculty, staff, parent, and guardian. ROARing Hearts funds classroom enrichment, athletics, music, theater, visual arts, senior prom, Middle School field day, Lakeside Community Night, and more. In addition, on Feb. 8, 2025, we invite all community members to make a virtual donation to Fund-a-Future, which raises funds for financial aid.
What can I do now to prepare for ROARing Hearts?
There are many ways to show your support and we welcome your involvement in whatever capacity works best for you.
- Donate items. We need everyone to consider donating an item to our fabulous online auction. Popular items include wine/spirits, gift certificates, sport or theater tickets, vacation home stays, travel getaways, and special experiences. For more info on what sells well or for ideas, click here for the Item Donation FAQ or here for the Buy-in Party FAQ. Click here if you're ready to submit an item donation.
- Donate cash. If you don't have time to donate an item or won't be able to attend the event, please consider a cash donation. Any amount is appreciated and helps underwrite the cost of the event including providing free tickets to all faculty and staff, and lower ticket prices to parents and guardians. Click here to donate.
- Sponsor. If you own a business or know a business that would like exposure to the Lakeside community, please consider becoming a ROAR sponsor. Click here for the different levels or to learn more.
- Volunteer. Give your gift of time and energy and help with the ROARing Hearts event. Click here to sign up or learn more.
- Attend and bid online! Please mark your calendar for Feb. 8. The online auction will start prior to Feb. 8 and will include Lakeside specials, themed buy-in parties, popular gift cards as well as unique items. You won't want to miss out on the fun!
I am attending the event on Feb. 8. What should I wear?
Feel free to wear whatever makes you comfortable to celebrate ROARing Hearts. Come as you are or take advantage of a chance to get dressed up. Make it formal, festive, business casual, or see what you can come up with to be on theme. Our goal is to create a fun and festive atmosphere where you will have a chance to connect and have fun with other adults in our Lakeside community.
As a fun option (not a requirement), we invite parents and guardians to wear these grade-level colors to show their Lakeside spirit:
- 12th and 8th grades - black
- 11th and 7th grades - white/silver
- 10th and 6th grades - red/pink
- 9th and 5th grades - gold/yellow + maroon
I am attending the event on Feb. 8. Who do I sit with (at dinner)?
When you register and purchase your tickets, you will have the opportunity to specify your tablemates and any special requests for seating.
The majority of guests will be seated at rectangular tables of 8. (There are 3 round tables that seat 10, which will be reserved for faculty and staff.) To be seated with a certain group, each person should specify all people in their group at the time their tickets are purchased. Do this by filling out the “Seating Preferences” section on the RSVP form. We will seat you with parents from your class if you do not specify a request or if you do not have your complete group of 8 at the time of purchase. If you have multiple students, please note the grade you would like to be grouped with, or allow us to seat you at an appropriate table.
The seated portion of the evening is just over an hour. There will be plenty of time to mingle with many parents/guardians throughout the evening.
What is the online auction?
The online component of ROARing Hearts allows anyone to participate in the auction and support Lakeside School. You can do your bidding anytime while the online auction is open. Attending the ROARing Hearts event on Feb. 8, 2025 is not required to bid except for alcoholic items. Only guests attending the event at Meydenbauer are allowed to bid on alcohol per WA State Liquor Control Board.
When does it open and close?
We are excited to offer TWO sections of our online auction!
- The classic ROARing Hearts online auction will open on Friday, Jan. 31, 2025 at 6 p.m. PST and closes on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2024 at 8 p.m. PST. This section offers the majority of our auction items and buy-in parties.
- Super Saturday online auction: Starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, we offer Wine and Spirits, and Super Silent items. Any remaining spots at buy-in parties will also be available for purchase. This auction will close at 6:30 p.m. PST on Saturday, Feb 8, 2025.
Any pro-tips on bidding?
- Make a bid plan to prioritize what items you want to bid on. The online catalog will be available at least one week prior to Jan. 31.
- Form a bid group to not only share the fun but share the cost. Only one person in your group does the bidding. If you win the item, contact Lani Carpenter, PGA staff at (206) 440-2796 and she will allocate the cost of the item across the bidders.
- If you really want something and don't want to continually monitor the bidding, you can "buy it now".
How can I see online auction items?
In mid-January, we will share the online auction URL so you can preview all items, and start making your bid plan.
How do I bid online? Do I need to register?
Yes, you need to register to bid. We will provide instructions in January on how to set up your account. Whether you’re bidding from home, other location, or at the Meydenbauer event, you will want to create your account as soon as possible, using the Get Started button on our auction website. If you are a return bidder, use your login credentials. If you forget your login user name or password, there is a link on the Get Started page to reset.
I have more questions. Who can I talk to?
Please contact PGA program specialist Lani Carpenter.
